Mentoring & advisory
A clearer next step.
For students and career changers finding their way into data analytics, and small businesses making technology decisions.
I'm Tam Ta, a data and AI leader in Melbourne. Students and people moving from finance and business analysis often ask me how to get started in analytics. I make a little time outside my full-time role for those conversations, alongside selected SME advisory.

Your first step into analytics
Free career guidance for two groups I regularly hear from:
- Students studying data analytics and seeking their first role. We can discuss entry-level roles, turning coursework into a useful portfolio, and presenting your skills on a CV.
- People moving from adjacent roles, especially finance and business analysis. We can look at how your experience transfers, which technical skills to build next, and how to explain the move to employers.
Bring one decision you are trying to make: which role to aim for, what to learn next, or how to explain the experience you already have. These are free, occasional advice conversations, subject to availability. Job placement is outside this offer.
Prepare with the short analytics career guide. It is free to use whether or not we speak.

SME technology advisory
A second opinion on reporting that takes too much manual work, a process that slows people down, or a software decision you need to make.
- Reporting and workflow review. Map one recurring task, identify the main bottleneck and prioritise practical improvements.
- Software or AI decision. Clarify what you need, compare options and weigh the costs, trade-offs and fit.
A focused review usually ends with a short action plan: what to tackle first, the trade-offs to consider and a sensible next step. Sometimes that means using what you already have. Scope, deliverables and fees are agreed before work begins.
Discuss your businessStart with a short note
For career advice, tell me whether you are studying or changing careers, the role you are aiming for, and the question you would most like to work through. For a business enquiry, include your business name, industry and the reporting, process or software decision you are considering.
We'll establish fit and availability before arranging a conversation. Please keep the first message non-confidential and leave out attachments, credentials and customer information.
