Now
Where I am and what I'd say yes to, written down so nobody has to guess. There's a date on it for a reason.
Doing
Leading data and AI at Patties Food Group in Melbourne, and happy about it. The modern stack is in and nobody talks about it any more, which is how a data platform should be. The work now is AI where the business can count the benefit: adoption, developer productivity, knowledge-work automation, planning. On weekends I build small tools; they're in the Lab.
Open to
- An advisory or board seat with a mid-market company at an inflection point: a new owner, a new CFO, a merger, an ERP replacement. That's when the data question gets answered properly, and that's when I'm useful. On a committee, less so.
- Conversations with private-equity operating teams about data and AI playbooks that repeat across a portfolio. I've run the playbook inside one portfolio company. The interesting question is what transfers and what doesn't.
- Speaking on practical AI in FMCG and manufacturing: what shipped, what it measured, what it cost. No demos of things that don't exist yet.
- Reference conversations about Snowflake, dbt, Fivetran and ThoughtSpot in mid-market manufacturing, and about putting AI coding agents in front of a data team without breaking the team.

A new job; I like this one. Large-organisation roles where the politics move faster than the delivery. Anything that starts with the tool and works backwards to the problem.
The fastest way to find out whether something fits is a short email: linkedin@congtam.net. I read them all. LinkedIn works too, more slowly: linkedin.com/in/tamtacong.
